Formatting AI text for real estate listings

AI assistants like ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini are useful tools for real estate agents. Feed them a few bullet points about a property and they will write a full listing description in seconds.

But if you copy and paste that output directly into the MLS, Zillow, or your personal website, it usually looks bad.

Here is how to make sure your AI-generated property listings come out clean and professional.

The problem with AI real estate listings

When AI writes a listing, it adds formatting symbols. You will see things like:

Most listing platforms (MLS databases, Zillow) do not support these symbols. Paste them in and your listing will show the raw asterisks and hashes. It looks automated and unprofessional, which is exactly the impression you do not want to give potential buyers.

How to clean up your listings

1. Strip the symbols

Before posting any AI-generated description, remove all the formatting symbols. You want plain, clean text.

2. Check for hallucinations

AI sometimes adds features that do not exist. Read through the description to make sure it has not promised a "sparkling pool" when the property only has a small patio.

3. Keep bullet points simple

If your listing platform supports bullet points, use standard single-level bullets, not the nested lists AI sometimes generates. If the platform does not support bullets, convert them into a short paragraph.

4. Tone down the adjectives

AI tends to oversell. It might describe a standard 2-bedroom condo as a "majestic, breathtaking palace." Read through the clean text and dial back the adjectives so it sounds like a professional agent wrote it, not a robot trying to impress.

A few seconds of cleanup makes the difference between a listing that looks polished and one that looks like it was generated and pasted without a second thought.
